From a Small Team to Ontario's Trusted Shield

EastShield Global Security was founded in 2008 in Toronto by a group of former law enforcement and military professionals who saw a gap in the Canadian private security industry — a lack of true professionalism, accountability, and client-centric service.

What started as a five-person team providing overnight guard services to a handful of commercial properties has grown into one of Ontario's most comprehensive security firms. Today, we employ over 500 licensed guards, operate a fleet of 85+ GPS-tracked patrol vehicles, and monitor thousands of cameras from our 24/7 command center in downtown Toronto.

Our growth has been deliberate. We've never chased volume at the expense of quality. Every guard who wears the EastShield uniform has passed our rigorous 160-hour training program, holds a valid Ontario Security Guard License, and has been thoroughly vetted through criminal background checks and reference verification. This commitment to excellence is why our client retention rate stands at 98%.

2008

Company Founded

James Mitchell and two former law enforcement colleagues establish EastShield Security in a small Toronto office, starting with 5 guards and 3 commercial contracts.

2011

GTA Expansion

Grew to 50+ guards, expanded service area across the Greater Toronto Area including Mississauga, Brampton, and Vaughan. Launched mobile patrol division.

2014

Command Center Opens

Opened our 24/7 centralized monitoring and dispatch center in downtown Toronto, enabling real-time GPS tracking and instant guard deployment.

2017

CCTV Division Launched

Expanded beyond manned guarding to offer full CCTV design, installation, and remote monitoring services. Hired our first Director of Technology.

2020

500 Guards Milestone

Surpassed 500 active licensed guards. Expanded fleet to 85+ patrol vehicles. Maintained 100% service continuity through the COVID-19 pandemic.

2023

ISO 18788 Certified

Achieved ISO 18788 certification for security operations management — one of the few private security firms in Ontario to hold this distinction.

2025

National Expansion

Opening regional offices in Ottawa, London, and Calgary. Launching AI-powered surveillance integration and expanding our remote monitoring capabilities nationwide.
